🤔 What is graphic design you may ask? 🤔
It is the combination of text and images to promote and advertise. That definition alone can infer why it can be a good strategy to market your business. As content marketing specifically targets an online audience for products/services provided by a business, it is a smart way to engage with your audience as well as gaining new customers. This is paramount within all content marketing as, after all, you need to appeal to your audience in order to keep them keen in what you are offering.

There are three main ways that graphic design can be used within content marketing, and this blog post will run through what these are, as well as how they are beneficial.
1. Calls To Action (CTA)
Calls to action are a great way to engage with your audience. By using CTA, you can include images with directions, such as "read this here" or "subscribe now". By adding these to blog posts or websites, you are encouraging the reader to stay keen and to follow all your future posts. It's also good to make these very eye catching, to grab the attention of the reader and make sure they feel as though they want to engage with your business and the content you are creating. When you use these, you can also use hyperlinks in order to backlink your other work, such as other blog posts you have written in the past, or a subscribe button. This is directly giving the reader access to your content; if it's right there in in front of them they are more likely to like and subscribe.
This means putting information across in a way which is visually pleasing. Here are some statistics to put this one into perspective- 90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual, and visuals are processed 60,000X faster in the brain than text. This one is great for getting information across quickly and effectively, not only does it look my pleasing on the eye, but it also transfers the information within your content in a more direct way. You could do this by condensing your information into a short video with minimal words and nice pictures. You can see how I've done this for this blog post here:
3. Blog Post Graphics
When looking at designs for blog posts, images, and videos really can make or break your readers perception of the post. If your post is too wordy, then it is likely they will give up on reading it about half way through. Yet, if you break up lengthy paragraphs with relevant images, gifs, and even emojis, your post is automatically 10x more engaging and will encourage them to read on. Not only will it improve their reading of the post, it will also grab their attention, and thus they are more likely to subscribe to read more of your future content.
Don't be too keyboard happy! Limit your word count to a manageable number for readers to digest; break up your paragraphs. Pace yourself, look over your draft and consider, is this too much? If the answer is yes, it is probably going to be too much for your readers too.
